Vincci TalksWe continue with our Vincci Talks, the podcast where we delve into each VINCCI DESTINATION, this time with a very special episode, because the capital is, indeed, the capital. Introducing: “The Art of Living Madrid.”
The cities where Vincci Hoteles has a presence become the perfect settings to welcome our guests and offer them unforgettable experiences. But we don’t want to discover them in just any way: we do so alongside local, renowned personalities who show us each destination from an insider’s point of view, not a tourist’s.
In this new episode of our #podcast Vincci Talks, we head to Madrid, a city known for being a place of welcome and freedom, where every path starts at Kilometre 0 and everyone has a favorite corner to share with their loved ones. We’ll uncover its essence with the help of two expert voices who will guide us through its most authentic corners and reveal what it really means to live Madrid.
In this episode, we talk with Félix Ramiro, a renowned menswear designer who dressed key figures of the famous “Movida Madrileña,” and writer and creator of the inspiring Instagram profile El Sereno de Madrid, Sonia Taravilla. They join us to stroll through the streets of Madrid and uncover a city deeply connected to fashion and events, with a cultural identity shaped by the many people from all over Spain who have made Madrid their home. It’s not an exaggeration to say Madrid is the most open and welcoming city in the world.
Our conversation takes place at Vincci The Mint 4*, in the heart of Gran Vía, a Madrid artery full of history and character, reflecting the vibrant and traditional rhythm of a city that never sleeps.
Our first guest is Félix Ramiro, a name synonymous with craftsmanship, passion, and constant evolution. With more than three decades of experience, this tailoring and design master talks about style, fashion, and how Madrid expresses itself through dress and presentation.
“Madrid is like the mirror you look into in the morning, and where everyone wants to see themselves.” This is how Félix Ramiro describes his vision of Madrid—a city he has lived intensely since completing his design studies at Goymar and starting to create suits for artists like Camilo Sesto and Tino Casal during the “Movida Madrileña.”
This fashion expert believes Madrid has style… and many styles:“Women have always dressed very well in Madrid. Men, when I started almost 40 years ago, were somewhat overlooked, but now I think there has been a huge evolution for them. And I like that because it creates a balance between men and women.”
Connected with fashion, cinema, TV, politics, and even football celebrities—among his select clientele—Félix Ramiro highlights something he shares closely with our Vincci Hotels: attention to detail that leaves a lasting impression, making you feel special.“I’ve been a guest of this house for years, and during each stay, we’ve felt that attention to detail: the handwritten card on the bed next to the chocolates, the passion for service and making you feel comfortable, and that added value of ‘we’re here for whatever you need.’ When you need something, you pick up the phone, and it’s sorted immediately. That, to me, is what sets a Vincci Hotel apart from others.”
Our second guest is Sonia Taravilla, a graduate in Humanities, diploma holder in Tourism, writer, and the curious mind behind El Sereno de Madrid, the Instagram profile that has become a window into the soul of the capital.
With her book *Por las calles de Madrid*, she invites us on a walk full of memory, history, and emotion through a city that never stops yet never forgets. She finds poetry in a street plaque, an old lamp post, or the trades that shaped Madrid into what it is today.
To Sonia:“The art of living Madrid is the art of knowing how to enjoy the city, of recognizing all the traces of the past, knowing its history, and understanding that it’s a city shaped by the mix of all the people who’ve come to Madrid since the late 19th century, leaving behind a cultural legacy that we, future generations, have embraced.”
Through her Instagram profile, El Sereno de Madrid, this museum lover uncovers not only the city’s history but also those must-visit corners for both locals and tourists. She recommends museums beyond the grand galleries—like the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions in El Rastro—and emerging neighborhoods outside the central core, like Carabanchel, with its booming contemporary art scene.
Among the chapters of her book *Por las calles de Madrid*, she showcases her admiration for the women of Madrid: seamstresses who, since the late 19th century, contributed to family economies and became part of the workforce in a flourishing city. Her deep knowledge of the city and its history led her to adopt the now-vanished role of “sereno”… but on 21st-century social media—browsing the Madrid Historical Archive, wandering El Rastro, and walking every street to preserve the city's images in collective memory.
“Madrid is a city that has it all” , says Sonia—a paradise for cultural and culinary tourists alike, with a hotel offering in spectacular locations like Vincci The Mint 4*, making it a must-visit for every avid traveler.
Visiting Madrid is always a pleasure—to discover it and rediscover it as many times as you wish. That’s why you can’t miss our new Vincci Talks episode: *The Art of Living Madrid*, because you’ll never truly know this city completely.
