Let’s uncover its essence with the help of two expert voices who will guide us through its most authentic spots and reveal what it truly means to live Cádiz: Pepe Ruiz, the first hotel director in the Novo Sancti Petri area back in the early '90s and a true expert on the region’s tourism scene; and Daniel Ramos, one of Spain’s most renowned bakers, awarded the prestigious "The Baker" prize in 2023, creator of @lacremita_dani_y_angeles, and a proud gaditano who’s passionate about great food.

Our first guest is Pepe Ruiz, who knows Novo Sancti Petri and Cádiz like the back of his hand, with a long professional career that he recounts in his book “Peldaño a peldaño,” full of colorful anecdotes, including stories about La Roja, our national football team.

“The charm of the people, the land, the character, the brightness of this Costa de la Luz, and the origin of my ancestors.” That’s Cádiz for Pepe, who hasn’t left since 1991. From his early days in the area’s hotel industry, when there weren’t even roads leading to Novo Sancti Petri, to the tourism development that’s made it a must-visit destination for its stunning beaches and world-class hotels, Pepe is a local icon.

“What makes this place special is that the environment has been respected — something that hasn’t happened in most other tourist areas in the country. Here, hotels are only two stories high, and from the beach, you barely see any buildings, as the Coastal Law is upheld and there’s no boardwalk.”

Pepe also emphasizes the area’s friendliness and authenticity, a perfect mix that keeps visitors coming back year after year — especially German tourists, who are the most numerous in the region. Our second guest is Daniel Ramos, a baker who also kneads stories. He’s the soul of La Cremita, a haven of honest flavor and sourdough in Chiclana, where he’s been recognized as one of Spain’s top master bakers, earning the prestigious "The Baker" award in 2023. With him, we’ll explore the passion and roots that make Cádiz so unique.

For Daniel, it’s clear. “Cádiz has it all, and living here is a great pride.” Cádiz inspires his bakery’s creations, as he champions local products and proudly represents his land — crafting delicious breads like his famous Chicharrón de Chiclana loaf.

His creations leave Cádiz for top restaurants across Spain, and national and international tourists can also enjoy his breads at various hotels — including our Vincci Costa Golf 4*.

Beyond savoring his bread, Daniel insists that “you have to enjoy the stunning beaches, and as a baker, I’m more of a sunrise person.” In culinary terms, “fish, produce, and salted goods” are must-haves for this baker, “because here we have those products at the highest level,” and he even shares a few restaurant recommendations you won’t want to miss.
