Manuel Escribano, Pepe Moral and Esaú Fernández receive the 21st ‘Al Detalle para el Recuerdo’ Award

The Hotel Vincci La Rábida 4* hosted the XXI “Al Detalle para el Recuerdo” Bullfighting Award ceremony, a prize that each year honors the most outstanding performance of the Seville April Fair. In this edition, the recognition went to matadors Manuel Escribano, Pepe Moral, and Esaú Fernández, unanimously awarded by the jury. The event gathered prominent figures from the bullfighting world and Sevillian society.

In an emotional ceremony held on Thursday, October 2 at the Vincci La Rábida 4* Hotel in Seville, matadors Manuel Escribano, Pepe Moral, and Esaú Fernández were distinguished with the XXI “Al Detalle para el Recuerdo” Bullfighting Award, a recognition that Vincci Hoteles grants each year to highlight the most remarkable performance of the Seville April Fair. Now in its twenty-first edition, the award has become a benchmark in the bullfighting scene and a tribute to courage, dedication, and mastery in the Real Maestranza.

The jury, composed of well-known critics and figures of the bullfighting world, decided unanimously to grant the award to the three toreros for their brilliant performances at the last Fair, where they captivated the Sevillian audience with their artistry, commitment, and authenticity in the ring — with their “historic and unusual gesture of receiving at ‘portagayola’ all six Miura bulls fought in the corrida at the Real Maestranza. Three local matadors who, with bravery, commitment, and deep dedication, staged a moment that will go down in bullfighting history.”

The award was presented by Antonio Pulido, president of the Cajasol Foundation, in a ceremony attended by leading authorities and personalities from bullfighting and Sevillian society; among them, the delegate of the Andalusian Regional Government in Seville, Ricardo Sánchez; senator appointed by the Andalusian Parliament, Javier Arenas; jury president and general manager for southern Spain at Vincci Hoteles, Rafael Calero; and the director of Vincci La Rábida 4* and Vincci Molviedro 4*, José Luis García Mera, who read the jury’s ruling.

The “Al Detalle para el Recuerdo” Bullfighting Award was created to pay tribute to the memorable feats that take place each year at the Real Maestranza. In this XXI edition, the shared recognition for Manuel Escribano, Pepe Moral, and Esaú Fernández highlights the quality and talent of a generation of matadors who continue to thrill fans with their dedication and bravery in the arena.

Once again, the jury was made up of leading figures from the bullfighting and cultural scene: Luis Manuel Halcón Guardiola, Miguel Serrano Falcón, José Murube Ricart, Enrique Moreno de la Cova, José María Michavila Núñez, Eduardo Dávila Miura, Martina Blatiere, Rocío de la Cámara Ysern, Almudena de la Maza Ybarra, Gabriel Malaver Peláez, and Juan Antonio Ruiz Román “Espartaco,” with José Luis García Mera as secretary and Rafael Calero Gracia as president.
