Vincci and the Generali Group to launch new hotel on Madrid’s Gran Vía

Vincci Hoteles. Nuevo hotel en Madrid

  • The hotel chain increases its presence in Madrid, where it already has five establishments, with yet another project on one of the capital’s main thoroughfares.

  • This four-star hotel, a superlative development, follows the Vincci philosophy of selecting the best locations and restoring historic buildings, just like the Generali building at Gran Vía, 10.

Madrid, 30 September 2014. Vincci, the hotel chain specialising in four and five star establishments, is to open a third hotel on Madrid’s Gran Vía, reinforcing its presence on one of the city’s main streets. With this latest hotel, the company will have a total of six hotels in the Spanish capital: on Gran Vía, in the Barrio de las Letras (Neighbourhood of Letters) and on Calle Goya, three of the capital’s finest areas and appealing for both leisure and business clients.

Carlos Calero, General Manager and Chief Executive Officer of Vincci said: “We’re particularly pleased with this project, because not only does it increase our portfolio but it does so in one of Madrid’s most important zones, in a landmark building. It is also a clear example of our continuing commitment to the capital as a tourist and business destination.”

The hotel, which will be at Number 10 Gran Vía, will be rented by the Spanish hotel chain, with the building being owned by the GENERALI Group, a major player in the real estate market, with 28 buildings in Spain and which administers, through GENERALI REAL ESTATE, a total of 2,500 assets around the world with a market value of 28,000 million euros. As the owner of the building, the GENERALI group will finance the complete, complex, restoration of the building, including the legal change of use (building works, installations, reformation, interior and exterior finishes…) that will take close to 12 months. The opening of the hotel is foreseen for the start of 2016.

Keys to the Vincci philosophy: prominent location and restoration of historic buildings

This new project is a perfect fit for the Vincci philosophy, in terms of the selection of the best locations for its hotels; after this hotel opens, the chain will have a presence in three sections of this major Madrid thoroughfare: at number 66, with the Vincci Vía 66 4*; at number 44, with the Vincci Capitol 4*; and at number 10, with this new hotel.

Moreover, it shares another characteristic with the hotels mentioned above and others of the company, being a commitment to the maintenance and restoration of a historic building. Number 10 Gran Vía was built between 1916 and 1919 by the well-known architect Jerónimo Pedro Mathet Rodríguez, in collaboration with a number of prestigious artists and sculptors, and it has been remodelled on various occasions. The entire building is registered as protected (Level 1), while the façade is of great beauty and artistic value.

A superlative project

The originality of the hotel will stem from the use of the common areas, with the aim being to create an atmosphere that is more open and synergetic than in traditional hotels, harking back to the essence of a great house. Architect Angel Serrano Ceballos and Industrial Technical Engineer Antonio Perez Úbeda will follow this concept in carrying out the required works. The hotel’s interior decor will be in the hands of Chilean interior designer Jaime Beristaín, who will turn the interior of the hotel into a modern, avant-garde space, while at the same time respecting the essence of the building through authentic and innovative touches.

The hotel will have a total of 88 double rooms, with all mod-cons, 10 of which will be junior suites. There will also be a covered viewing terrace, a lobby bar, cafeteria and indoor patio. The hotel will have the latest technology in terms of sustainable energy use, as well as new technological systems designed to save water and electricity as well as consumption from air-conditioning and hot water production.
