We’re celebrating today; the hotel in Tenerife, Vincci Selección Buenavista Golf&Spa 5* Lujo, has been recognised with the GreenLeaders badge by Tripadvisor distinctive. It’s a recognition the comparison website uses to stand out good hotel environmental practices.
And if that wasn’t enough, the hotel was rewarded the Gold GreenLeaders badge, one of the highest levels, thanks to its environmental measures in relation to energy, water, waste, gardening and environmental education.

At the Tenerife hotel Vincci Selección Buenavista Golf&Spa 5* Lujo we recycle glass, cardboard, paper and plastic. We also recycle oils, furniture, flooring and mattresses and safely dispose of dangerous materials (paint, print cartridges, batteries, etc…).
90% of this recycling is done by Ataretaco, a Canary Islands organisation that works with people who have difficulties entering the labour market due to social exclusion.
The aims of the Foundation, which is an independent, non-profit, public interest organisation, include carrying out training activities, particularly professional or occupational, and the social and occupational integration/reintegration of people suffering from social and economic exclusion, as well as the prevention of such exclusion.
All the activities carried out by the foundation are aimed at enhancing the personal, social, economic and cultural situations of the individuals and groups involved, at the same time as improving the environment and the equality of opportunities.
Another of the hotel’s actions recognised by the GreenLeaders programme is the towel and linen re-use programme, which also forms part of the cleaning staff’s training. At our Tenerife hotel we are also concerned about obtaining the maximum possible water and energy saving. At least 75% of the interior light bulbs are energy efficient, and we employ temperature and light sensors to save energy when rooms are empty. At the same time, the taps, showers and toilets are highly water-efficient.
The plants in the gardens of the Vincci Selección Buenavista Golf&Spa 5* Lujo Tenerife are mostly native species, and very few chemical products are used in the garden’s maintenance. Watering is carried out by an intelligent system, in line with hotel’s environmental commitment.

We are keen to transmit to our guests our environmental concerns, informing them about the local environment, encouraging them to take care of it and allowing them to comment on the hotel’s environmental measures.

We are also very much aware that environmental education should be started from a very young age, and so the hotel has its own ecological vegetable garden. Our youngest guests can plant and collect fruit and vegetables, while they learn about sustainability, ecology and nature. They have a great time!

We are thrilled by the GreenLeaders badge, awarded by Tripadvisor to our Tenerife hotel, the Vincci Selección Buenavista Golf&Spa 5* Lujo, but even more than that, we’re delighted that it shows that our work goes to helping, in a small way, the efforts needed to protect our planet.
