Coinciding with the UN declared International Year of Light, the nights of the ‘Fiestas de Santa Eulalia’ will fill the streets with light-based technology, projecting into and lighting up every corner of the multi-cultural city of Barcelona.
Twenty illuminated installations, created by students and teachers from graphic design, interior design, lighting and architecture schools: ELISAVA, UPC, LONJA, La Salle, BAU, ETSAB, ESAD, IAAC, HERRAMIENTA and IED, with the collaboration of the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO) and the Professional Association of Light Designers (APDI), will completely transform the Ciudad Vella from 18:30 to 24:00 on February 6 and 7, while on Sunday 8 February it will run to 23:00.
One of the main events will be the inauguration of the festival where, for the first time ever, you’ll be able to see illuminated castellers. It takes place at 20:15 in the Plaza San Jaume.

The festival will bring together tradition, art and technology with the objective of highlighting the importance of light in our society, making us aware of its presence in all aspects of our lives and leading us to reflect on how humanity during its evolution has developed ways of using it to improve the quality of life.
