The winner of #MyFirstTrip is…

Those marvellous journeys, so different to those of today… At Vincci and Iberia Express we wanted to look back and remember those trips in the past that are so distinct to how we travel nowadays. Because the change in how we travel has been dizzyingly fast… When we remember how we used to get to our holidays, and how we enjoyed them, we can’t help but smile… And the trips that you told us about and the photos you sent us… they left us open-mouthed, they were wonderful! We could only choose one… just one! You certainly made it difficult for us!

Here’s a quick look at just a few…

MyFirtTrip participacion

The first time ‘Antía González Pombo’ went abroad was thanks to a question she asked her parents when she was just four: “What’s English for…?” Can you imagine her face when she arrived in Malta and tried to speak to someone?

AngelTerronesNavarro MyFirst Trip

And the first trips of ‘Ángel Terrones Navarro’ to his grandparents’ village… A place that seemed like a world away, because it took an eternity to get there… nowadays you can get there in less than half a day.

Ruben Lorenzo Arribas

Rubén Lorenzo Arribas told us about his experience in Tunisia. He took the decision to go on his own, on a trip organised by the Community of Madrid, with 30 people he didn’t know. He sent us some photos worthy of being hung in a gallery!

Tania González MyFirstTrip

The first time ‘Tania González’ went on a plane was to Mallorca, when she was just four. She remembers those days by the pool and soaring over the clouds with her fluffy toy in her arms as one of the most amazing of her early experiences.

And so the moment has arrived… We had to choose, we didn’t have any other option! The person who is going, with a companion, for a weekend, with flights from Iberia Express included, to the hotel Vincci Tenerife Golf 4* is…

Gema Quintans Luque

For the story of her trip to Galicia with her parents, her sister, her uncle and her grandmother… on a tow truck!

GANADORA Gema Quintans Luque

“I would be about seven. I was travelling to Galicia in a 4×4 with my parents, my sister, my grandmother and my uncle (all in the photo except for my father, who was taking the photo). As it turned out, as we were driving along, the car broke down and we had to call for a tow truck. As there was only room for three people in the truck’s cabin, the rest of us stayed inside the car, on top of the truck, but my father had the car keys with him (he was up front in the truck’s cabin), and he’d forgotten to put the windows of the car up; we’d put them right down so we didn’t die of the heat while we waited for the truck. So, we were going along the motorway with the windows completely open, holding on to everything light inside the car that might get blown out of the window. What I most remember is my grandmother, with her hair all over the place, in the passenger seat, at a loss as to what else she could do to stop from getting blown away. We didn’t need air conditioning, of course! When we finally arrived, we couldn’t stop laughing. Every trip back then started with an adventure… or at least mine did. This is the first one I remember, and I recall it very fondly, because when you’re young everything seems so exciting. Every time I see photos of that trip, I get the same feeling, and I think that nearly flying like a plane out of the window of the car, or other experiences, like sharing a room in a tiny flat with my grandmother, who never stopped snoring, are worth it, if when you get there you can share great times and visits to amazing places, like Muxía (in the photo) in the best company (your family).”

Many thanks to Gema for sharing this wonderful tale with us, we hope you really enjoy, with the person of your choice, the trip, so that you’ll have great stories like this one to remember together.

From us at Vincci and Iberia Express we can’t say it enough… THANK YOU, thank you to everyone who took part and sent us their stories from what is always a very special time, going on a trip. Because as the explorer Richard Francis Burton once said:

“Of the gladdest moments in human life, methinks, is the departure upon a distant journey into unknown lands.”
