Things to do in Salamanca with children

In Salamanca one of the annual activities not to be missed is eating the traditional 12 lucky grapes on the stroke of midnight on New Year’s Eve in the city’s Plaza Mayor, something you won’t want to miss out on if you’re in the city.

On 2 January you can enjoy the “Adventures of Mary Noel and the Three Kings” in the Teatro Liceo, a fairytale that tells the story of Clara, a five year old girl, who writes her letter to the Three Kings every year with her mum and dad – when all of a sudden she has a doubt: What if the Three Kings don’t exist?

The performance starts at 6pm, and entrance is free while space is available. The Three Kings themselves will take part in the show, receiving letters from all the children who want to write to them.

On 3 and 6 January the musicals ‘Cinderella’ and ‘Gisela’ will be performed in the CAEM (Centro de las Artes Escénicas y de la Música) and, like every year at this time, various choirs will be offering concerts in different locations throughout the city, the ‘Polyphonic Christmas’. There will also be the traditional New Year’s Concert.

On 5 January the Three Kings’ parade takes centre stage, with magic filling the air on this night for children par excellence. Make it happen in a city that’s like a dream, come and spend this magical night in an incomparable place: Salamanca.
