2015 was the year of e-commerce. And the hotel sector was no exception.
According to the report ‘eCommerce Trends 2015”, the intention to make on-line reservations for tours and hotel rooms has grown by 17% since 2011, to reach 44% of the total. Meanwhile, on-line plane ticket purchases grew by 15%. These are the sectors, together with e-books, that have seen the most growth in the last three years. And who’s doing the buying? The so-called Millenials, youngsters between 21 and 34 years old.
When considering making a hotel reservation the most common device used is a mobile, with tablets showing a notable increase. In Spain one in four hotel reservations is now made on a smartphone or a tablet. Although when it comes to actually finalising a booking, overall the traditional computer is still the leader.
And when is the most popular time to book using a smartphone? Above all when we’re booking at the last minute: for that same night or the next, and normally in our own country rather than abroad. And curiously smartphone use is more common in the mornings than in the afternoon.
The most important things when booking on a mobile device: simplicity, flexibility, personalised service, speed, security and discount codes, like the offers you’ll find on Vincci Hoteles’ website.
Right now, Cupid is taking aim with his bow and that means Valentines offers for dinners and weekend get-aways in hotels like the Vincci Selección Estrella del Mar 5* Marbella Málaga, Vincci Soho 4* Madrid and Vincci Selección Posada del Patio 5* Málaga.
