Christmas Market in Madrid’s Plaza Mayor

Christmas is already in Madrid, the streets of the capital are lit up with a multitude of colours and the spirit of the season can be found in every corner of the city. And the only thing that was missing started yesterday: the Christmas market in the Plaza Mayor. It runs until 31 December and offers all the most Christmassy items, from Monday to Thursday, 10am to 10pm and Friday to Sunday, from 10am to 11pm.

Christmas markets in Barcelona

Christmas decorations, Nativity scenes and figures, arts and crafts, sweets… Just some of what’s on offer in the Santa Lucía Christmas market, Barcelona’s main festive market, found in the Plaza Nova, by Barcelona Cathedral. It’s open until 23 December, from Monday to Thursday, 10.30am to 8.30pm and Friday to Sunday, 10.30am to 9.30pm.

And from 19 December another market, the Three Kings Fair, will light up Barcelona, running until 6 January. It’s located on Gran Vía between the streets of Entença and Muntaner and is divided into different sections, with a toy area near Plaza Cataluña and the arts and crafts section near Plaza de España. From 11am to 2pm and 5pm to 9pm.

Marbella’s Christmas Market takes place in and around the Plaza Antonio Banderas, in Puerto Banús, from 5 December to 6 January. There will also be an ice rink and activities for all the children.

Christmas Market in Malaga
167 stalls with Christmas objects, craftwork and books are spread out over the magical ‘Parque de Málaga’. Open every day from 11am to 10pm. Another place you won’t want to miss is the city’s Nativity Scene, in the City Hall, which takes up the whole of the Patio de Banderas. It’s open every day until 5 January, from 10am to 2pm and 5pm to 9pm.

Christmas Market in Santander
5 December sees the opening of Santander’s Christmas Market, which this year is located in the Plaza Alfonso XIII. It has around 60 stalls that are open every day from 10am to 10pm. It also has a 600 square meter ice rink where experts and beginners alike can enjoy Christmas with the joy the season deserves.
