When we think about a fabulous beach we always imagine kilometers of fine sand and crystal clear water, but just as important as this are certain conditions of accessibility, safety, hygiene, and information that make the beach absolutely perfect and deserve the distinction of a ‘blue flag’.
This international seal of quality, awarded since 1987, awards beaches that meet with established standards in areas of hygiene, cleanliness, safety, accessibility, information, adequate lifeguards and lifesaving equipment. Beaches that are, ultimately, not only beautiful, but also clean, safe and accessible.
Spain can be proud to be home to a large number of these beaches as, according to the 2013 list of beaches and marinas with the a blue flag that was just released, our country has this year no more and no less than 648 blue flags (551 in the beaches and 97 in marinas), ten more than in 2012.
This means that one out of every six Spanish beaches has a blue flag and that, in fact, Spain is the country with the most beaches of this type. Surely, something for us to be proud of our coasts for.
You already know that if there is something that characterizes us in Vincci it’s that we’re always searching for the best places for our hotels and this means that many of our establishments have got one or several blue flag beaches nearby.

Also the beaches in the Community of Valencia a blue flag this year. In Valencia, where we’ve got two hotels (Vincci Lys 4* and Vincci Palace 4*), there are three (El Perellonet, La Devesa and Pinedo), meanwhile in the capitol of Castellón, very near to our Vincci Castellón 4*, you’ve got the El Gurugú and El Pinar beaches.
We end our tour in Barcelona. You already know that we’ve got three hotels there (Vincci Bit 4*, Vincci Arena 4* and the Vincci Marítimo 4*), but perhaps you didn’t know that the city has got six blue flag beaches: El Bogatell, La Barceloneta, La Mar Bella, La Nueva Icaria, La Nueva Mar Bella and San Sebastián beach.
