On 22 September the hotel Vincci Selección Posada del Patio 5* Málaga will host a charity gala to raise money for children in need. ‘A patio for children’ will bring together renowned Spanish chefs, ready to surprise the attendees with their cooking.
The event offers a tasting menu, accompanied by live music, prepared by some of the best chefs in the country, who jumped at the chance to help children. Culinary artists such as Paco Torreblanca, Ramón Roteta (Restaurant Ramón Roteta, Hondarribia), Sergio Garrido (Hotel Vincci Selección Posada del Patio 5* Malaga), Abraham Garrote (Restaurant La Solana, Fuengirola, Málaga) and Delfín Cabrera (Catering Delfín Delicatessen, Palma del Rio, Córdoba) will all be there for this charity event organised by Vincci.
A ticket to the gala costs 75 euros, with all the money raised going to two children’s charities in Malaga: AVOI (Asociación Voluntaria de Oncología Infantil, the Voluntary Association for Children’s Cancer) and the Asociación Mundo Infantil (Children’s World Association).
The ambition of AVOI [link in Spanish] since 1993 has been that no child should stop smiling. They are dedicated to helping children in the oncology ward of the Mother and Child Hospital in Malaga. Every day the aim of the 170 volunteers who make up the foundation is for the children there to be able to play and be happy, in spite of their difficulties.
The Asociación Mundo Infantil, who will also receive funds from the gala, is a charity based on solidarity, equality, social commitment and childhood. It works in poorer areas, with the aim of raising awareness of the responsibility society has towards children. The group are aware that the fundamental pillars in the education of a child are their family, school and social circle.
Our chef Sergio Garrido is, together with Vincci director Cesar Pérez, the driving force behind the project.
He belongs to the ‘Euro-toques’ group of chefs, the director of which is Pedro Subijana. This association, in addition to sharing knowledge, is committed to various social causes, and the master chefs who will be with us on 22 September are all involved in the organisation. Sergio, the man behind the event, is an active helper at the ‘Centro de Acogida Mundo Infantil’ (Infant World Shelter) in Alora, where once a month he invites the children to help in the kitchen, instilling in them fundamental values and enthusiasm at the same time as they make their own dinners, kneading dough and creating pastas…
Little by little we can make huge differences. And if we all give just a little bit we can make a better world for the children of today and tomorrow.
