5 expositions you cannot miss if you are staying in the Vincci Centrum 4* Madrid

Madrid

“It’s not about painting life, it’s about making paintings come to life”, said Paul Cézanne.

Today and until May 18, we can enjoy the way this “father to modern art” made paintings come to life. The Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid is hosting the first monographic exposition of this artist in the last 30 years. The gallery contains the landscapes and still life paintings that made this French artist famous –hence the title “Cézanne. Site/non-site”. Painted in his own studio or outdoors, works like Still Life with “Pomegranate and Pears”, “Peasant Portrait” or “In the Woods” are but a few of the masterpieces that can be enjoyed by everybody visiting the city.

But this is not the only exposition you cannot miss. Vincci Hotels proposes you up to four expos for enjoying a cultural stay in Madrid.

One of the more prestigious museums in Madrid is the Reina Sofia Museum. Aside of its permanent collection, including Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí or Miró, we will be able to enjoy, up to September 22 in the Sabatini building, the “Playgrounds. Reinventing the plaza”. A photographic exposition covering the social, rebel and political potential tied to these public spaces. With over 300 pictures, this exposition tells the story of art as a playground, from the end of the XIX Century.

The Reina Sofía Museum has also taken a step ahead in originality. The Museum has taken to the streets with the Splendide Hotel works, by Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster. Strolling by the Retiro Park, the Cristal Palace includes a group of rocking chairs placed in an imaginary hotel room. The artist takes us into a dream where space and time are fantasy and reality at the same time. The visitor can sit down in a rocking chair and enjoy reading a book by José Rizal, Dostoievski, Rubén Darío, H. G. Wells or Enrique Vila-Matas.

Do you enjoy photography? Caixa Fórum presents Sebastião Salgado’s work in the “Genesis” exposition (extended until 1st July), a quest for the world’s origin confronted by modern life. The photographer inaugurated the Terra Institute in 1998 with the goal of reforesting up to 700 hectares of Brazil’s rainforest. As a result, we can appreciate today his pictures of landscapes, animals and people dissociated from the consumer society: forests, deserts and savannahs, with their unique inhabitants. Through this exposition, the visitor can explore the Earth’s beauty and care for it.

Lastly, we would like to invite you to know the cultural heart of the city. In the Círculo de Bellas Artes the photography is the protagonist these days. You can learn about the evolution in photography with the “Photography 2.0” exposition or understand the American lifestyle with Josep Renal’s pictures.

Do you enjoy Jazz? Would you like to feel transported to the streets of London, New York or Paris? Jazz Círculo is the place to be, where the best jazz musicians gather and gift you with their best music while you enjoy a drink. Plus, you can visit the rooftop terrace, which offers a breathtaking view. A truly privileged place you cannot fail visiting.
