This international seal of quality, awarded since 1987, awards beaches that meet with established standards in areas of hygiene, cleanliness, safety, accessibility, information, adequate lifeguards and lifesaving equipment. Spain can be proud to be home to a large number of these beaches as, according to the 2013 list of beaches and marinas with the a blue flag that was just released, our country has this year no more and no less than 648 blue flags (551 in the beaches and 97 in marinas), ten more than in 2012.

This means that one out of every six Spanish beaches has a blue flag and that, in fact, Spain is the country with the most beaches of this type. Surely, something for us to be proud of our coasts for.

The rooms (235 standard, 17 suites, 3 junior suites and 10 luxury suites) have been renovated from the top down and the lighting in the communal areas has been improved and the carpet has been changed. The gardens, restaurant area and the spa have also been reformed.

During these short getaways, a lot of times we’re forced to take with us small suitcases, especially if we’re going by plane and we don’t want to get charged. In the chaos arises doubts as to whether to take something or not. No need to panic! Here we give you some advice for packing a small suitcase and including everything that is necessary:

- The main piece of clothing in a quickly packed suitcase are the pants. The best is to include those that go with everything (jeans, black skinny pants…) and that look good both during the day and at night.

- Along with the pants, the best is to choose two or three shirts and/or t shirts, that go with them. You have to keep in mind, before anything else, the weather of the place you are going and the activities you’re going to do, to decide to go for lighter shirts or long sleeved shirts.

- Two cardigans and a windbreaker, jacket or trench coat, are never a bad idea.The weather is unpredictable! And they are thin garments that don´t take up a lot of space …

- Regarding shoes, put a few flip flops, if you’re going to the beach, along with a pair of sandals. You should also put in a pair of more closed shoes: they don’t occupy a lot of space and it could be that you’ll need them.

- And don’t forget a bikini, if you’re going to swim or sun bath, or an umbrella, if you know that where you’re going it tends to rain.

- Two handkerchiefs or scarves shouldn’t be left out: surely at night you’re going to need them and, in any case, they add an extra nice touch.

- And what about bath and beauty things? The best thing is to stay somewhere that offers guests amenities (shampoo, gel, body lotion…), as you’ll find in our hotels. Vincci provides many of the products you’ll need for your daily bath routine, so you don’t need to pack more than is necessary. Girls will even find a special bath pack with cleansing milk, cotton makeup removers, tissues, tweezers, nail file, nail polish remover, hair brush, cotton buds, hygiene products, cologne, specific cosmetics, a sewing kit and a dryer. Forget bringing these products along with you and save space in your suitcase!

Located on the banks of the Tajo river, the Portuguese capital offers its visitors a wide range of possibilities. It’s an absolute must to visit the historical center where the La Baixa district is located, the most central and important district of the city. Here you’ll find the famous Avenida da Liberdade, with its terraces, cafes, and meeting places for intellectuals and artists; la Plaza de los Restauradores, La Placa do Rossio, La Plaza de Figueira and the Plaza del Comercio, are other stops you cant miss before taking the Elevador de Santa Justa, an elevator from which you can enjoy a lovely panoramic view of the area.

Don’t miss the chance to visit el Chiado, the “Montmartre” of Lisbon, with its legendary “A Brasileira” cafe, and the Barrio Alto, one of the most attractive and modern places in the city, that hosts a wide variety of bars and pubs to enjoy a festive night and, of course, the famous fados. The best choice to move around here is by taking the number 28 tram, that still retains the charms of yesteryear´s transportation, and passes by the most notable places in the city.

Stroll through the beautiful streets of the Alfama, the old fishing district, and up to the San Jorge Castle, where you’ll have the capital and the river at your feet. The views from this building, built in the 5th century by the Visigoths, are impressive.

Now in the outskirts, head towards Belem, a riverbank district where you can visit the precious and important los Jeronimos Monastery, considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and the most important monuments in Lisbon, like the Torre de Belem and the Monumento a los Descubrimientos. Don’t leave here without trying the delicious Belem cookies or the “Pasteis de nata”.

More modern, but not with any less charm, is the Parque de las Naciones, a recreational area created for the 1998 World Exhibition and where you can find Europe’s second biggest aquarium as well as the Estación de Oriente designed by Santiago Calatrava.

The Alhambra, a World Heritage site, is Granada’s most important monument, first obligatory stop for all tourists. Located in a privileged spot at the top of a hill, it offers an impressive panorama of the entire city, that it looks out over from above.

To access the palace it’s necessary to buy a ticket ahead of time, weeks before you go to the city.  The Alhambra is a city in itself, with a multitude of paths and nooks and crannies to get lost in.  Visitors can begin by looking at the Alcazaba, the military area and also the oldest of the complex.  Continuing on, it’s a must to go  into the Nasrid Palaces, an artistic and architectural marvel, made up of three buildings built by different Arab monarchies: the Mexuar,the  Comares and the Leones.

After this visit, there still remains to visit the Generalife, next to the gardens and fountains, a place of refuge for the old kings who desired to recreate here a paradise on earth.

One of the best views of the Alhambra is the one from the Mirador de San Nicolás, in the Albaicín district. With the Sierra Nevada in the background and the city at its feet,  watching the sunset from here is almost an obligation and a joy for the senses.

The Albaicín itself is another one of the most visited places in the city. Its whitewashed houses, cobbled streets, its typical houses (cármenes) with their gardens and courtyards, the smell of jasmine flowers … invite one to walk through and get lost in this area without thinking about the passing of time. Above the Albaicin one finds the Sacromonte, famous for its caves with flamenco clubs where gypsies have their parties of singing and dancing every night.

And down below, Granada´s historical centre isn’t lacking of charm either. It’s an absolute must to visit its cathedral, the Royal Chapel, where the Catholic Kings are buried, the surrounding streets, where the visitor will find a multitude of shops to buy souvenirs and other products typical of the area.

In Granada its worthwhile to lose oneself without a plan and discover its jewels like the Cartuja Monestary or the San Jeronimo Monestary, as well as its various mansions, cármenes, and historical houses of interest, among which can be found the Moorish House of Horno de Oro or the House of Father Suarez.

The cultural atmosphere of the city is quite diverse, as along with organizing various musical or movie festivals, it hosts all kinds of museums such as the modern Science Park, an interactive center that is more than 70,000 square meters in size.

To eat in Granada, the usual thing consists of going to a bar and trying the tapas that are offered for free when you ask for a drink which is, besides being a cheap option, a good way to discover the area’s gastronomy.

At night, after tapas, comes the time to go out and enjoy the night life. Granada is full of vitality because of its being a university city.  Pubs fill the center’s streets, overall Elvira street and the Pedro Antonio de Alarcón area.

INGREDIENTS

- 400 gr. of chocolate

- 300 gr. of flour

- 200 gr of butter

- 800 gr. of powdered sugar

- 8 eggs

- 2 chirimoyas

- 100 gr of cream

- Mint

PREPARATION

Brownie

- In a mixing glass, add the sugar and eggs. Blend.

- Melt the chocolate with the butter and add to the mixture.

- Add the flour to everything and pour the mixture into the pan.

- Bake at 180ºC for 30 minutes.

- Once out of the oven, let it cool at room temperature.

Chirimoya syrup

- Peel and pit the fruit

- Blend the fruit with the cream and the mint

Presentation

- Serve the syrup extremely cold and the brownie warm.
