Vincci Bit Fans Tour IV: floating with Alex Trochut

Another Thursday and we continue with our Vincci Fan Tour of our recently launched Vincci Bit in Barcelona. When you reach the second floor and get out of the lift you´ll see a large mural that runs along the whole length of the hallway designed by the renowned artist Alex  Trochut.

This project has been a good opportunity for the Catalan to experiment with new mediums as he has never worked on a mural before.  It took Trochut over a month to create the concept that he developed for this project and that he painted in a week on the wall with spray paint.

To complete the mural, composed of different shapes and textures, the artist was inspired by nature and the style of the 50´s .  In his own words “with this work he wanted to express the feeling of dreamy joy, so that while the observer walked around it they would feel as if they were floating”.

Alex Trochut was born in Barcelona in 1981.  His illustrations, designs and typography take the modern notion of minimalism and flip it on its side.  One thing that defines the philosophy of his work is the phrase “more is more”.  Trochut is driven by the desire to constantly evolve which can be seen in his eclectic and prolific work.

He holds a degree from the Elisave Escuela Superior school of Design, and worked in Toormix and the Barcelona design studio Vasava, before launching his own studio where he has worked for clients such as The Rolling Stones, Adidas, BBC, Nixon, British Airways, and Coca-Cola.  In 2011 he published his monograph “More is More” which documents his professional work and also shares his personal thoughts and the influences he received from the world of art and design.

You know that we´d like to know which is your favorite floor of the Vinnci Bit so if you like the second floor, you can vote for it in our Facebook page by clicking “like” and/or “share”.  Doing both gives you double chances to win a weekend for two in the Bit that we will be raffling from among all those who vote in Facebook for the photos of the Bit that we publish each Thursday.  Remember that you can vote for every photo that we put up.

Good luck to everyone and see you next Thursday!
