Another summer and once again Marbella will be dressed to impress for a month as it hosts the Starlite music festival. Have you been?
Three decades ago now Alfonso Hohenlohe, Julio Iglesias and Plácido Domingo decided to turn La Cantera de Marbella (Marbella Quarry) into an unbeatable natural auditorium (it’s effectively a theatre surrounded by greenery) and created a music festival to be held there, which over the years has become one of Europe’s leading cultural dates.
Nowadays the Starlite Festival is as much a social and cultural event as it is a festival; with the focal point being the Starlite Gala, a charity event hosted by Antonio Banderas.
This year Starlite continues to grow, with a new concept for the event: bigger and even more stunning. There won’t just be world class concerts from renowned artists like Enrique Iglesias, Lenny Kravitz, Plácido Domingo, Alejandro Sanz, Laura Pausini, Roger Hodgson, Sara Baras, Anastacia, Andrea Bocelli, Lionel Richie, Amaia Montero, Village People, Julieta Venegas, Ana Belén and Víctor Manuel, Melendi, India Martínez & Pitingo, and the ever-present Julio Iglesias, the only artist who has taken part in every single edition of the festival. This year Starlite has reinvented itself, to be even more modern and avant-garde, offering different culinary experiences, fashion shows and leading film premieres. Additionally, various artists will have the chance to exhibit their works.
